Judge Judy Losers, Who Pays?

I know that the winner gets paid by the sponsors. But does the loser have to pay anything? Say, Judge Judy awards the plaintiff $5,000 and the plaintiff gets the money from the show. Does the loser have to pay anything? Or is everything forgiven because he/she came on the show?
