What Happens at a show cause hearing?

I am ordered to appear (as plaintiff) at a show cause hearing for violation of a personal protection order. I filed the violation in September and they ordered a bench warrant but I had trouble serving the paperwork. Did the bench warrant turn to a show cause because of failure to serve? What can I expect to happen on this date? Do I have to relive the whole thing? I have worked really hard to put all this behind me and ever since the first attempt to serve (to his mom's house) he has left me alone till recently. He has begun attempting to contact me again, do I need to bring phone records?
