Why does my father not care about our family?

Your father seems like control freak. If you and you're family can find whatever ways to stand up to him (however small) it might make him realise he's pushing you all away and might one day end up alone. I also think your mother needs the confidence to be stronger, so if you and your siblings can give her this with actions and words, she may find the strength to say something. People need to start realising this is 2011, where relationships are equal, so no man should be able to control a woman and family like this. As long as you can find ways to do what I've suggested with respect, it may just help :-)
